Larks claim victory on road

WICHITA — Rain slowed down the Hays Larks again on Thursday, washing out one of the games of a split doubleheader scheduled against the Wichita Braves and Wichita Twins.
The Braves' game was rained out, but Hays did get in its game with the Twins, claiming a 10-6 victory.
Kevin Russo, Nolan Reimold and Tyler Wasserman each drove in two runs for Hays (13-7). Russo, who leads the Larks with a .419 batting average, homered to lead off the fourth and finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Reimold belted a two-run homer in the second, and Wasserman highlighted the Larks' four-run first with a two-run double.
Aaron Batlle went 3-for-4 to raise his average to .414 on the season. He drove in one run and scored another.
Matt Kirkpatrick, who was batting .115 entering the game, went 2-for-3 to raise his average 57 points.
Matt Tokarczyk picked up the victory, pitching four innings in relief of starter Joseph Edens. Tokarczyk (2-0) allowed four runs on four hits, with five walks and three strikeouts. Seth Fortenberry finished up, allowing two runs in two innings pitched.
J.P. McGrath took the loss for the Twins (10-11), giving up nine runs on 10 hits in four innings.
Hays is scheduled to return to Jayhawk League action tonight and Saturday with games at El Dorado.
