ELKHART -- The Hays Larks batters got going early and often in Monday night's contest against Elkhart as Hays rolled to a 12-0 victory in Jayhawk League play.
Nolan Reimold hit a two-run homer to left-center field in the top of the first inning. He went 3-for-4 in the game with three RBIs.
Hays batters had 15 hits in the game.
Joseph Edens started the game on the mound for the Larks and gave up no runs, with two strikeouts, two walks and five hits in five innings of work. He moved to 4-1 on the season with the win.
A costly error and some wild pitches bounced in the Larks favor in the sixth inning as four runs scored off two hits — a triple by Jeff Mandel and a double by Aaron Batlle.
Hays improved to 21-11 this season and 15-10 in the Jayhawk League, still 1/2 game behind league leader El Dorado. The Broncos moved to 23-13 overall and 16-11 in the league after splitting a doubleheader Monday at Nevada, Mo.
Winners of three straight league titles, the Larks have eight Jayhawk games left this season. El Dorado has seven.
The next action for the Larks is a 6 p.m. doubleheader tonight against the same Elkhart team.
