Larks lose again

EL DORADO — Managing just one run Tuesday night against the Broncos, the Hays Larks dropped their fifth straight game since starting the season 9-0.
Kyle Carney scored an unearned run off El Dorado reliever Matt Hinds in th ninth to push across the Larks’ only run in a 7-1 loss to the Broncos. With the league loss, Hays drops to fifth place in the Jayhawk League standings heading into today’s 6 p.m. doubleheader with the Broncos.
Carney was hit by a pitch in the ninth and later scored on an error. Hays left five runners stranded in the first eight innings after getting only five hits.
El Dorado (10-5 overall, 8-5 Jayhawk) scored one run in the third inning off Hays starter Mark Tanner (1-1) to take a 1-0 lead. The Broncos had three of their 10 hits in the inning.
El Dorado put the game out of reach in the sixth with four runs on two hits and the lone Lark error.
Right fielder Rich Michalek had two of the Larks’ five hits. Tanner gave up five earned runs in 5 2â„3 innings with two strikeouts, four walks and nine hits before being relieved by Eric Rose in the sixth and Justin Randa in the eighth.
