The Jayhawk League leading Hays Larks will take an unbeaten record into Tuesday’s opener of a four game series with Liberal at Larks Park. Hays (7-0) had its final game of a series in Joplin, Mo. against the Slashers called off on account of rain. The game never got underway.
At 3-0 in league play after taking three from the Slashers, the Larks are the league’s only remaining unbeaten team. Mark Tanner is due to start for Hays in Tuesday’s opener.
Derby (5-1 overall, 3-0 Jayhawk) saw its first loss Sunday at the hands of the Park City Rangers, 9-6 in 11 innings. Liberal brings a 3-2 league and overall record into Hays after splitting a four-game series with El Dorado. The three losses over the weekend dropped the Slashers to 0-7.
Tuesday’s game will feature Old Timers’ night, where Larks of the past will be honored. Tuesday’s games sponsors are Eagle Radio and M&D Excavating. After the four-game series, Hays hosts Derby in a 6 p.m. doubleheader Saturday, part of “Pack the Park” night at Larks Park.
