JUNCTION CITY — Playing for the first time in a week, the Hays Larks lost 6-0 to Junction City in nonleague action Sunday night.
In an effort to give the Larks’ pitching staff some work, Hays had eight pitchers throw an inning each. The loss went to newcomer Travis Crow, who gave up two runs in the second inning. Another pitcher making his first appearance was Brad Hutt, who pitched a scoreless first inning before giving way to Crow.
The game remained 2-0 until the last Larks’ pitcher of the night, left-hander Justin Randa, gave up four runs in the eighth.
Hays was held to two hits by three Junction City pitchers.
The Larks had a four-game Jayhawk League series at Nevada, Mo., rained out last week, as well as a league doubleheader at Derby on Saturday.
Hays (14-7 overall, 10-6 Jayhawk) will play host to Dodge City Tuesday in a 6 p.m. Jayhawk doubleheader at Larks Park.
